The Samsung M300 offers Bluetooth connectivity for handsfree devices, a VGA camera, and a cool red color. | About Kajeet Kajeet was founded by three three dads figuring out how technology, kids and parents work best ("Kajeet" is an anagram of the first letters of the names of the company's founders' children). Kajeet's entire philosophy springs from a simple core idea: kids are smart. And they should be agile with technology, empowered and safe, and be able to respond with confidence to what's happening in their world. Because having a cell phone is not just fun, it's a responsibility--a shared responsibility, Kajeet wants parents and guardians to be involved too. Thus, Kajeet is designed to incorporate a full suite of tools to help families customize and manage every aspect of their Kajeet experience. For more on Kajeet's pay-as-you-go charges and monthly voice and text plans, see the Kajeet Service section below. Phone Features Weighing just 2.7 ounces, the M300 is one of the smallest and lightest phones on the market today. The front has a black face that includes the 96 x 96-pixel color display and integrated camera, and it's framed by a red surround; the back of the phone is basic black. The internal color LCD has a 128 x 160-pixel resolution and 65,000 display colors (16-bit), and the external display provides a quick visual check of the time, new messages, battery life, and signal strength. The phone has a 4 MB memory, but it lacks memory card expandability. The phonebook offers a maximum of 299 entries, with each providing storage for up to 5 numbers as well as an email address. The VGA resolution digital camera can capture still at 640 x 480 pixels (sized for sending via email or uploading to the Internet), and it includes self timer, night mode, brightness, and white balance control features. Print pictures directly to PictBridge-supported printers, without a computer, using the available USB cable. Thanks to the built-in Bluetooth wireless connectivity (version 2.0), you can enjoy hands-free communication via optional headsets. Enjoy easy, hands free communication with a full-duplex speakerphone that lets you hear callers loud and clear. This phone has all the bases covered when it comes to messaging and Internet connectivity. Use the phone's built-in picture messaging capability to send text, graphics, and pictures to your friends. The phone features support for instant messaging applications, and there's a built-in WAP 2.0 Web browser for downloads and mobile Web browsing. T9 text entry, a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users. Other features include: - Personal organizer tools including a calendar, a scheduler, a calculator, an alarm clock and notepad
- Headset jack (2.5mm) lets you plug in any hands-free headset you like
- Speaker-independent voice dialing: Say the name of any entry in your phone book and the number is dialed automatically without using the keypad. This feature is speaker-independent, so there is no need to train the phone to respond to any one person's voice. Receive an audible status report of your phone/s coverage, signal strength, and battery strength.
- Picture caller ID: Identify callers at a glance by linking downloaded photos and other images to your phone book.
- T9 text input: Compose messages easier and faster. Predictive text input and the internal dictionary predicts text as you type, making it simpler to send messages.
Vital Statistics The M300 weighs 2.68 ounces and measures 3.58 x 1.85 x 0.68 inches. Its 800 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 3.2 hours of talk time. Great 1st Cell for Kids October 18, 2009 Tobi C. Bellin (Georgia) I loved this phone for my son. The Locator service is great when they loose the phone! My son loved the camera feature and the ringtones.
Terrible customer service August 14, 2009 SuziCQ 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I can't really say how well we like the phone as I haven't received it and now don't plan to. I ordered (before noon as stated on their website, Kajeet's, NOT Amazon, for same day shipping) & paid for priority overnight shipping, but the next day when I was to receive it- nothing! I called, they said "Oops, not processed yet." No reason given! Just that for some reason it "missed" being processed. They offered to refund my shipping - which is the same as NOTHING as the salesman had already offered me free shipping if I wanted to go with 2 day ship. Now I'm looking at a 4-day ship! I would like to tell you how we liked the phone, but can't as we're most likely canceling our order. This was supposed to be a birthday git for our son whose birthday is this weekend, not next week! So I would say if you don't mind not knowing when you'll receive your phone you cold go ahead and try them. I figure though, if they're going to lie to me up front, then I can't really trust them in the future.
They also told me if I ordered from somewhere else, like Amazon, I couldn't get the special they were running! But if I'd ordered from Amazon I'd at least have a phone now :(
Cant take normal daily abuse February 15, 2009 J. Watson 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Why cant products last more than a year. In my family there are three of these phones. Only one still charges, so when the other two have to charge with have to put their batteries in that phone. But now that phone is nearly the end of its life. the charge ports break too easily. if you want a phone that will last the full contract period, i suggest something else. i just want a quality made product that will last for multiple years not one, but those days are long gone(thank you china manufacturing).
Kajeet is a perfect solution for parents of teens December 31, 2008 S. Brockus (California) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We bought the Samsung phone and Kajeet service for our son's 13th birthday and have been nothing but happy with the service. The phone is pretty basic, but the online service from Kajeet is fabulous.
We can put money into separate "wallets" on the Kajeet site and select whose "wallet" calls and text messages come out of. Calls and texts to parents and grandparents come out of our "wallet," while calls and texts to friends are paid for by our son.
It's a really great choice for a first phone.
Beware of purchasing this product November 25, 2008 B. Jeffries 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this phone from Amazon. When the phone came, it only came with $5.00 worth of air time. When I called Amazon, they told me to send it back. They aren't sure if their listing description is correct or not. I was on the phone with them for over an hour with no one telling me the same thing or able to solve my problem. If I find out more, I will post another comment - in the meantime, you should assume that this phone DOES NOT come with $30.00 worth of air time.
