Great Frame June 12, 2010 Champ I wasn't sure about this brand or frame before purchasing this frame, but it is the best frame that we have ever purchased. We purchased a Kodak and Sony frame at the same time and this one has outlived both of them, and we never turn it off. Other frames will become extremely hot after lengthy use, but we have never had that issue with this frame even though we leave it on 24/7. It might be a rather simple frame when it comes to function but, because of the reliability we have purchased two more for friends and relatives!
Do Not Buy - Power Issues May 10, 2010 wisteriahs (Denver, CO USA) I had the same issue as noted on other reviews regarding the power. The AC to DC voltage and amperage converter ( 12 volt DC - 1.5 amp ) went bad within two months on 3 out of 4 frames that I purchased for business purposes. I've since returned them all and purchased another brand.
I really liked the frame (picture was great and it was easy to use), but I won't put up with the power issues even for a great price.
Smartparts 15" on the Go for Trade Shows April 3, 2010 Robin of Eden Valley (Oroville, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Eden Valley Guest Ranch purchased a Smartparts 15" digital frame over a year ago. I had never heard of the company, did considerable research and used many reviews. We are rural and reliability is more important to me than ease of use. This product was a good fit for us as our usual show is about 250 pictures, which repeat continuously. I change the show for each event adding and deleting pictures in a special file on computer. Files names have numeric codes in front part of filename to ensure my photo order. Then I delete the old show off the frame and load the new one in through the Optimizer program it came with via USB. Manual is cryptic. I send frame in a special carry case we developed with one of our representatives and all they do at an event is set it up and turn it on. The frame ran most days last summer and has gone to many events. It looks professional and we get many great comments about it. This frame has worked well.
Power Failure March 31, 2010 Consumer (Eastern PA) Ours failed after 10 months. Luckily it was only the DC power supply and being something of a pack rat I just happened to have the correct AC to DC voltage and amperage converter ( 12 volt DC - 1.5 amp ) lying around. Picture quality is good but the viewing angle could be better. We have ours on the wall above the kitchen table and have to look up at a little it but it seems the viewing angle would be better if it we were dead even with it. The software that comes with does a good job of resizing the photos correctly but don't use the optimizer option as it will make the pictures grainy. We were pretty happy with it until it stopped working.
Unacceptable viewing angle March 2, 2010 Paul Fisher 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this photo frame mainly for the price. It is the same price I paid for a 10" Insignia DPF I bought on sale.
The 15" size is great, exactly what I would like for my wall.
The brightness and colors are poor. I could never make it come anywhere near the quality of my other two 10" photo frames.
Even then, I would have kept it because of the wonderful size, but the viewing angle is the worst I have ever seen in an LCD screen. If you looked directly at the frame or slightly to the side, it was reasonable. If you were above, below or to the side it looked horrible. A large frame like this should be given a prominent spot, but if you give it one, it looks ugly any time it is looked at from any angle other than straight in front of it. I had hoped to replace a 10" photo frame in my living room, but instead I am returning this one and I appreciate my 10" one a little more.
The remote works great.
Only buy this if you expect to put it in a place with a very limited viewing angle. Then it would be reasonable. Otherwise, there are many good quality smaller frames that will look much better.
