If you are shopping for a low cost digital photo frame, I recommend the Smartparts 7" Digital Picture Frame. The frame itself is cleanly built and made of thick plastic to protect it from any falls. In fact, due to the relatively low cost and ease of use, you could give this to a child as a way of sharing photos of their recent family vacation.

The SmartParts 7" Digital Photo Frame takes about 30 seconds to completely boot up. Once it is started, the built-in demo mode is set as the default. You can quickly view photos on your SD memory card by removing and reinserting it into the side card slot. Within just 5 seconds, your photos will begin cycling through the slideshow program.
Digital Picture Display Quality
First, you must remember that the maximum resolution for this photo frame is 480x234 pixels. For comparison, your standard Windows Vista screen is at least 800x600 pixels in size. As a result, you will not get to see the full depth of your digital photos on this product. The great news is that for casual viewing, from a distance of 12' away, the photos look great. The TFT LCD display does a very good job of rendering the deep contrast and brightness of digital photographs. I enjoy using my Nintendo DSi XL to take photos around the house and then placing the SD card inside this photo frame to view the photos. The pictures taken with the Nintendo DSi look surprisingly good on this 7" LCD screen.
Which Memory Cards Are Supported With The SmartParts 7" Photo Frame?
You can insert a memory card from a Nintendo DSi or digital camera with supported memory card into this product without the need for time consuming initial setup. The software inside the photo frame will detect all available photos in any folders and begin displaying them. The following memory cards were tested and found to work with the SmartPart 7" Digital Photo frame: SanDisk 2Gb SD, Lexar 4Gb microSDHC Class2, Kodak 4Gb SDHC memory card and the Kingston 16Gb microSDHC SDC2 memory card. I only had SD, SDHC and microSDHC memory cards at the time this product was tested.
The Instruction Manual
The instruction manual for the SmartParts 7" Digital Photo frame is 12 pages long. Since it is only in English, the manufacturer had room to print the text in an easily legible format. Multiple topics are covered, including copying files, troubleshooting and the 90 day product warranty.
Power Options For The SmartParts 7" Digital Picture Frame
The Smart Parts 7" Digital Picture Frame consumes at most 7 watts of power while in slideshow mode. The low wattage, TFT, full-color, LCD display is an ecofriendly way of showing off your photos for coworkers or just family. The power supply for this product is approximately 2" x 1.5" in size and has a very long, 72" cord to give you a good measure of flexibility for placement of the digital frame on the wall or bookshelf in your home. I own several digital picture frames and use none of them. Every time I get a new one, I hope against hope that the picture quality will be good enough for me to leave it on display. Of the relatively inexpensive frames, this one is not the worst, but I still don't like the quality. The software lets me drag and drop photos to the frame by a USB cable through a folder on my desktop, but it is still difficult to program the frame for picture rotation and such; and as is typical for these frames, when the power goes off, there is no memory, so I have to reprogram it each time. I just don't have time for that. I'll keep looking - this one didn't do it for me.

I gave a couple of these frames as gifts and kept one for myself. For the $40 price, I got my moneys worth...
The instructions are useless and it's not "the most" user-friendly, but once you get a general understanding of how to operate it, you will be fine. One of the people I gave the frame to is my mother, who it not very technology-savvy - if I hadn't set hers up for her, it would still be in the box.

I found this item very easy to use with an SD card. Just stick it in and you are done! You can of course get more fancy with transitions and things, but I mostly just want to see the images. For the price, I think it is a super little frame. The wood frame makes it look nice in more traditional settings (not like a big plastic ipod or something.) Mine did have one dead pixel, but I only noticed it while looking at dark shots close up.
