Good for the price, bad for the sound. December 3, 2008 In my search for a good pair of ear bud headphones, these are my second attempt in two months at finding the perfect set for me. The first set that I tried was a pair of Skull Candy Smokin' Buds in this same price tier. This pair does have slightly better sound quality (which isn't saying much) and a considerably better case (the Smokin' Buds only come with a drawstring pouch...which makes them very prone to being tangled constantly).
There are a few issues I have with it. First, as for sound quality, they are OK at best. There is a fair amount of static at even moderate volumes(regardless of the source...I've tried multiple sources and bitrates of files including lossless codecs). I think I need something with just a little bit more bass as well, without being overbearing. Also, they aren't as comfortable as the Skull Candy pair, and while I appreciate the hard plastic case because it keeps the wires untangled, it's going to be a bit too large to carry around easily come warm weather. Right now, I don't have an issue with it, because I can put it in my jacket pocket, but once the need to wear a jacket subsides, I'll have nowhere to put the case. It's definitely too big to put in the pocket of any of my jeans. I'm not sure if any set of headphones has a good solution for this problem, but I guess I'll have to keep looking and possibly expand my search to a higher pricing tier.
good sound, nice length November 30, 2008 nice buds for use with an armband player. comes with extension for longer needs. rubber earbuds don't come off easily (a good thing).
Didn't work for me November 21, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This was my second attempt to find a full sounding ear bud for my Nano 4g. I ended up returning this set and the VModa Bass, both high rated ear phones. These ear buds produced a distorted sound with no low end. I tried multiple EQ settings on the player, but I could not compensate. I was very surprised they received a high rating on Amazon. Perhaps these buds could not handle the output from my Nano 4g. Another factor may be the small driver size (8 mm). Otherwise, I thought they were of a high quality construction and were comfortable to wear.
I ended up with the Sony Mdr-Ed12Lp/Blu Budstyle Headphones (Blue). These buds produced a much fuller sound from my player and the buds stayed in my ear during my work out. These buds have a 16 mm driver.
Great headphone November 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've owned this pair for a few months now. Great sound quality. I'm a bass junkie and this little pair packs a surprising punch. I've used them on the train and jogging. The headphones come with a neat carry case.
The best part-- I forgot them in my pocket and they survived a 30 minute wash cycle in my washing machine and are still (miraculously) working fine. (Though I would not recommend you try this stunt).
glad I bought them, nice design November 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
these fit a little nicer than the 71s. and sound great. I preferred the 'behind the neck' cord over the Y shaped one, but not a problem. I rip all my music to 320 bitrate so I'm lovin these. there's plenty of bass, but not overpowering, as others have said. I have a question, though, maybe someone can answer. these sound better with my 80 gb ipod that has a hard drive than they do with my 3rd gen nano that is flash. Should this be so?
**one other thing: I've had other in the ear buds and these have the LEAST noise transfer from shirts, jackets, whatever. the sennheiser cx300s are unbearable to wear if you move.
