Not retractable January 6, 2009
These earbuds stay in place and deliver good sound, but the word "Retractable" on the amazon.com website is misleading. They are not retractable. The black ones are, but these aren't.

This is no Bose i guarantee you that, however with natural drums and classical music you'll find that a lot of note and sounds you never noticed pop out at you. Its a simple design with small hooks that go around your ears; they basically keep the buds from falling all over the place if they ever come loose from your inner ear. The base of the cord that attaches to the jack is very poorly attached however as you receive the item, use some crazy glue and put a small single drop on the cord as it enters the jack, and i guarantee it will not come out. I don't regret the money i paid for this item (approx $200.00 TTD)as most JWIN and COBY headsets can cost about the same price here with significantly worse sound than these provide, and they seem to be the only brands the merchants here carry.

This is the second pair I have purchased; my cat chewed up the first (Grrrrrr!) But the day I realized they were ruined; I went onto Amazon and ordered the same exact pair. The regular iPod ear buds hurt my ears and always fall out while I exercise; these stay perfectly in place. For the price; they are more than worth it for me!

I would definitely recommend these, I had tried at least 10 different earphones and was so darn frustrated! But i found these and they are so comfortable, they don't hurt your ears. They are flexible and the part that goes in your ears are soft and don't hurt when you wear them for a long time. Sometimes the cord gets tangled up in my mp3 players neckstrap because it's long, but that's a small price to pay for such great earphones!

I bought these to use when working out, and I've been pleased with them for the most part. I think they deliver excellent sound quality, and they fit comfortably. They do still occasionally come loose when I'm running, but I'm not sure if there is an earbud in existence that will stay in place 100% of the time, especially if you have smaller ears. Also, the cord started to detach from the jack after a couple of months of use. It was easily repaired with electrical tape, but still kind of annoying.
