Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
The Sennheiser CX 300 Pink is a high quality stereo ear canal headphone with powerful, bass driven stereo sound for listening "on the move." Ear adapters in three different sizes ensure a perfect fit, high wearing comfort and an excellent attenuation of ambient noise. The CX 300 Pink are ideal for use with MP3, CD, MD, or DVD players and many other portable devices. In addition, from December 1, 2007, to May 31, 2008, Sennheiser will donate 10% (or $8.99) of the price of this special edition headphone to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research, with a minimum donation of $15,000. Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the world's largest and most progressive grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists. The organization strives to cure breast cancer at every stage and has local affiliates in 125 cities and communities.

Excellent value for the price

4 out of 5 stars Very Good Buds   December 22, 2008
OK... these were a good buy. I got them for $30 and they are most definitely worth that price. They fit very well into my ear canal which was a major requirement for me because the ear-pocket buds do not stay in my ears at all. And they ship with 3 pad sizes to fit perfectly into anyone's ear canal - I assume, anyway.

SOUND QUALITY. These are perfect for casual listening. They do a very good job at sound isolation. However, they seal so well against my ear canal that my own body movements are translated through the cord and sound like rustling in my ears. But that sound is 95% masked by moderate content volume so it's no big deal.

Bass is adequate. Not boomy, pretty tight. Although one of my negatives is that I can tell there is a single driver in there because the punchy bass detracts from the midrange and treble. In other words, when a bass hit is strong, the driver can't handle the full spectrum of sound completely so you hear a moment after the bass where the driver is recovering from the bass extension. I assume most listeners won't notice this and I only notice it when I'm sitting and focusing solely on the music. These would sound better if they had a second driver to handle the upper range while the bass driver was hitting as hard as it does. But then again, there is no way I would be able to get an ear bud like that for $30. So, these are just fine.

Treble is crisp and bright. Midrange is full and adequate and the buds respond well to changes in the EQ settings on my iPod.

I compared them to my long-loved (since 1989) Sony MDR-V6 studio monitors. Of course they don't stack up and no one would expect them to. But the MDR-V6s are a very good reference point. Results are that they come as close as I would expect from an ear bud. They are more efficient than the 60mm driver Sonys which is good. They have similar sound qualities at low volume but the louder you go, the less they can compare - mainly due to the tiny driver in the Sennheisers trying to reproduce so much audio spectrum all at once. They only really have about half the overall presence of the Sonys, but again, I can't complain.

I don't really care for the cable where one side is shorter than the other. It always seems that the wrong side is short. But can easily be worked around. The rubberized coating on the cable is nice and feels durable, but the combination of that rubbery stickiness and the tiny gauge results in many a tangled cord instances. But again, for $30 I really won't hold that against them.

These earbuds are exactly what I expected and hoped for. They fit perfectly and sound good enough!

Overall, highly suggested for casual iPod listening and WAY better than the ear buds that Apple supplies with their iPods.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty Good for the Money   December 18, 2008
These are pretty good sounding earbuds, they don't fit my ears perfectley and I had to remove the tiny metal speaker covers because they would get clogged with wax (Yuck). For 20 bucks though, these are worth the money.

3 out of 5 stars Ok, for low end Sennheiser   December 12, 2008
I've always used Sennheiser headphones for both home studio work and my iPod. In this case it appears I was my own victim of penny wise, pound foolish. Sure, you're getting Sennheiser for a very reasonable price, but the design and sound in my opinion is weak.

They come with three different sizes of plugs for your ears which is cool, but the way they lock into your ear be prepared to hear sounds generated from your head movements and breathing if your working out. These sounds get amplified due to the earphones have to be locked into your ear to get you decent sound. Once the plugs are locked in, you get what I would call 'decent' sound. Not the quality I have experience with other Sennheiser products.

Personally, I don't like how they designed the earphone cable to be quite short on one side, and long on the other. Not sure what that is about since it makes one's placement of their mp3 unit limited so one can move freely move thier head.

I'd suggest checking out a higher level product of Sennheiser's so you won't get caught feeling penny wise, pound foolish.

1 out of 5 stars Haven't even tried the phones yet, but the packaging was absolutely ridiculous   November 4, 2008
3 out of 11 found this review helpful

I fully realize how silly it is to review an item based solely on it's packaging, but this is a measure of how ridiculous it was to open the package. The item arrived very quickly (from a third party merchant, of course), and I have no doubt that I will enjoy the ear buds. Opening the plastic packaging, however, took me so long that I had to give up half way through and take a break. During the process, I also lost one of the extra ear-pieces. I'm not weak, I'm not crazy, and I can get through most every-day challenges without losing my mind. There is no reason to design packaging this way, and I'm leaving this review and this one-star rating because knowing what I know now would have made me reconsider my purchase. Sennheiser (and other companies) should reconsider their packaging. How hard can it be to make something that opens in an simple, straight-forward way?
