EXCELLENT! January 8, 2009 I purchased these for use with my Apple Macbook Pro laptop. I will say in one word - AMAZING!
These noise isolation earplugs - ISOLATE. They seem as effective as the foam earplugs I used to wear at a large manufacturing facility where I worked. I mean they seal up TIGHT and cut HUGE decibels of outside noise.
As far as sound - there seems to be any number of "Audiophiles" in this world - each with their own opions of all earphones - past, present, and future. I am not an "Audiophile". I am a geek - a computer user - who enjoys listening to MP3's, or perhaps something from iTunes. I might decide to watch a DVD movie, or play (HORRORS!) a computer game.
Do you know what?
These ear phones are MOST EXCELLENT for any or all of these things.
Treble is clear and crisp - rings like a bell. Bass is deep and vibrant. At 1/2 volume on my Macbook Pro - I could FEEL the sound literally in my bones, all the way to my feet. People who have said you need a 2 or 3 driver earphone to deliver good Bass response are out of their minds! These sound better than the 12 inch Cerwin Vegas I have hooked up to my Mitsubishi big screen - in terms of Bass response. I would dare say you would have to have at least a $2000 set of home stereo speakers to equal the sound output and quality of these inexpensive headphones.
They are THAT GOOD.
If you want to pay more for earphones - by all means do so. If you have some type of hyper sonic hearing and are playing with uber-super- duper sampled audio - and wish to hear the fly landing on the left cymbal during William Tells overture - perhaps something MAYBE will deliver SLIGHTLY more response for you delicate audio orifice.
But for the rest of us - who listen to MP3 - watch DVD movies - and play games - THESE ARE ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING. I mean they are MAC DADDY - MONSTER - ear phones.
I have NO COMPLAINTS whatsoever.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I paid $250 for this? September 5, 2008 1 out of 10 found this review helpful
Not enough base to balance overwhelming highs. I returned them the next day. What a joke these are.
Amazing for classical music... Improved compared E2c series August 12, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
The best pair of noise isolating ear plugs. IF you listen to the rock n roll garbage, i would say anything goes they are so loud who really cares what instrument you hear to... but when it comes to classical... orchestra... it always fascinating to pick up the event the most subtle tone. I have experienced it. I have used this pair in flight... in book store... in public spots... work places... and almost every time i will have to be physical shaken to get my attention. It isolates the noise to core... may be not in the aircraft, esp when you sit in the back of the flight... i guess even Bose can not do any better there... with air speed and cabin pressure.
I used to own the E2c and they were good too, but the fact that they were hard to fit in, but the foam sleeves in SE series, reshapes in to your ear to isolate the noise, so at first you would find it weird when the foam is expanding to isolate... but once it is shaped... it does wonders.
The first the I saw the price, in March 2007, I was not sure if I wanted to pay that for a earplug but the experience with e2c and Shure's reputation, I did anyway and surprised that even after a year their price is still high... that tells me something about the quality. compare other earplugs in the market within a year you will find the price going down by 50 %, but not this one. Definitely recommended...do not hesitate the price... its always what you pay is what you get...

I once owned a pair of these earphones the bass is great and you get a great sound. You also won't hear anything else in the room while music is playing. Unfortunatley they are very delicate. To give us a high quality sound shure gives us high quality wires- made of gold. Gold is a lot softer than your average earphone cable, so they damage easily. Mine lasted 6 months.
