Product Description The PSW111 Powered Subwoofer delivers powerful, accurate and musical bass at shockingly low prices. Built for power and value, the PSW111 represents a continuing refinement of the highly regarded PSW Series and a great introduction to visceral home theater bass performance. By using a state-of-the-art Klippel Distortion Analyzer, Polk engineers optimized the woofer's motor structure, voice coil alignment and suspension for the best possible performance. A more powerful motor structure for a higher BL product,(the measure of the motive force applied to the cone) results in louder, deeper, and punchier bass. Its compact design is the perfect complement to Polk RM Series and SurroundBar loudspeakers. Built-in High Current Amplifier supplies all the good, clean power you need for the bass volume and and wide dynamic range necessary to recreate a life-like experience in your home Subwoofer Driver Complement - 8 Diameter (20.32cm) Dynamic Balance Composite Cone Overall Frequency Response - 38Hz-250Hz /Crossover (subwoofer) - 80Hz-200Hz Speaker Inputs - level spring terminals, Line level L&R, LFE line level (unfiltered) Speaker Outputs - level spring terminals Enclosure Type (subwoofer) - Vented, Downward Firing Port Continuous Average Power Output - 150 watts / Dynamic Power Output - 300 watts Unit Dimensions (HxWxD) - 12-1/8 x 11 x 14 inches (30.80 x 27.94 x 35.56cm) Product Weight 20.3 lbs. After some deliberation, I decided to buy this on Amazon rather than a couple of Polk's 10-inch versions. I heard it at BB and thought it was very tight and controlled. I listen almost exclusively to music and just wanted something to fill in the lower registers. This sub complements well my new Yamaha nx-e400 bookshelf speakers (another under-recognized bargain!), which supposedly go down to 55hz on their own. I set the crossover to about 85 hz and turned the volume on the sub to almost halfway, and this combo fills my room with an almost perfect blend of bass, midrange, and treble. If you're just looking for solid bass to help your bookshelf speakers with music, this sub is terrific!

Great, I am fully satisfied with it. It is perfect for my room size. I am still in the process of refining my setup and I have no doubt that I will enjoy it.
little box, big boom November 9, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a great sub for the budget conscious with a small to medium home theater room. My main points for buying this is the price at the time I bought it here in Amazon, the LFE input that some subs leave out and front firing with the port underneath as well as the power it puts out. I heard some Polk subs have a rattling sound but this new model did not have it, so far (three weeks now).
The only thing is I wished they put the power on led somewhere more noticeable but some people would probably not like it also.
I did not give it a 5 star as I don't believe anything deserves it. But this is really a good choice for me.
Polk PSW111 8" sub packs punch in a small box August 27, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this used from amazon warehouse for about $30 less than a new one. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it other than it looked like an open box/returned item.
It sounds incredibly great for the price. My room is approx. 16x20x7 and this is plenty of bump. I love bass as much as the next guy, so if I had more cash and more room I might gotten a 12 incher, but it really wasn't needed for my room size anyway. As you can see from the pictures I added, I also have a Polk CS1 center and a Polk Monitor 60 fronts. I am in the process of getting 4 Polk Monitor 30's to use as surrounds to get the full 7.1 in my room. That room is going to be the place to be. I will be sad everytime I have to leave it.
Polk PSW111 Subwoofer February 5, 2008 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
The Polk PSW111 is a good subwoofer if you are looking for one that is small and can be hidden in the corner of a room. However, don't expect it to produce the "bone rattling" vibrations of the larger options.
