Good phone system with great features December 30, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this phone system to go with our new Vonage service since Vonage runs off of a single modem/phone adaptor and we have several extensions in the house. It was very easy to set up and now we have extensions everywhere we want them that only need an electrical outlet. (I always wanted to have a phone in the bathroom - the only time it ever seems to ring is when I'm in the shower!) The reception is very clear on all of the extensions and the nice thing is that when you set up your frequently called numbers in one handset you can copy them to all or any of the handsets that you want to instead of having to re-enter them all again. It takes only seconds. You can also turn the ringers off, on, or adjust to volume in any of the extensions or the base. That's nice when you have someone in the family to goes to sleep earlier than you and you don't want the phone ringing in the bedroom. All of the phones light up when they ring so you can tell that they're ringing. I use that feature in my home office so if I'm on the business phone I don't have the disturbance of the home phone ringing.
It plays nice with others, like Vonage Vonage VDV21-VD - Router - VoIP gateway - EN, Fast EN and my wireless router Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless-G Broadband Router and took seconds to hook up. (I'm not a techie geek and don't usually do this kind of thing.) It doesn't cause any interference with any of the other equipment and I can surf the net and talk on the phone without any noticeable delays on either.
It has several personalized ring tones for different callers if you want to set those and has caller ID, intercom with the base, 3-Way Conference Calling. 30 Name/Number Caller ID Memory, speakerphones in both the base and extension phones, last 5 number redial and probably lots of other goodies that I'll never get around to using. You can add one additional cordless phone. You could also use a line splitter like this one I've used GE TL96572 25 Foot Dual Jack Phone Cord and set up another phone system with more phones on the same number. I just turn the answering machine off on my old system and use the extensions so I have a couple extra.
This is all so easy to use and has so many nice features. I would definitely recommend it to anyone needing several extensions, for both voip services like Vonage or just regular land line phones without having to install a bunch of jacks.
Please speak up! December 6, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this phone set because I really liked the corded base (for power outages) and was ready to upgrade. I liked the use of the phone and the ability to transfer phonebook entries from one handset to another (or the base). But I am going go be returning the system for two main reasons: 1. Using the handset just a couple rooms away people constantly ask me to speak up. If I switch to my old cordless phone there is no problem. 2. The handsets don't have a headset jack and I really like using a headset.
Review update... I tried an dect 6.0 phone system from AT&T with the same results, people asking me to speak up, so that be a frequency issues instead of just per this phone. I would have thought with the hype about dect it would be able to go from one floor of the house to the other.
