bad egg perhaps December 26, 2007
Maybe I just got a bad egg, or maybe I did not maintain it properly (if regularly emptying it and cleaning it and not overloading it is poor maintenance), but this shredder never did work right for me. The cd/credit card portion of the shredder stopped working after about a month - it was always inconvenient to have to slide the silver panel forward to shred cds and credit cards. This shredder is very hard to clean. And the slide-out trash can door rarely did fully close and the red light would stay on. It got to where I had to hold the door shut to keep it shredding. Today, a year and two months after I got it, 10 sheets of paper got jammed in there and it looks like it's going to be a battle to shred from now on - if I reverse then go forward half a dozen times, I can get a small thin receipt shredded. So it looks like it's time for a new shredder. Maybe a Fellowes....?
