Great Deal for an All-in-One + Direct to CD/DVD Printing October 28, 2008
This is my second direct to CD/DVD printer. For an all-in-one, this one has a bigger footprint than my Epson R200, but I don't need a separate scanner which is a better trade-off. Even that the old R200 is smaller, I need a much bigger space at the rear because the DC/DVD rack runs all the way to the back during pinting. The RX580 rack does not move as much.
I don't use anymore printable stickers that you stamp on the CD/DVDs. Putting them on is always a challenge. They produce bubbles and sometimes makes the DVDs uneven. The software that comes with it, although pretty basic is good enough.
Epson always print the best photos, nothing changed there.
Pros:
- CD/DCD direct printing
- Perfect for printing pictures.
- Smooth installation. ( I am still on Window XP by choice)
- Works like a regular copier. It does not need the PC to make copies.
- Handsome printer
- If you stay with Epson ink, the prints will last for years to come.
- Built-in multiple flash memory reader.
- Good value (Got mine as a refurbished unit for around 70$). Still working, 6 months and counting.
Cons:
- I am not happy with the printer's ink consumption. It seems a little hog.
- Produce stunning results when I am using Epson paper. When I tried other brands, most of them do not look as good. It can be more expensive to print using Epson paper alone.
