Black Cartridge Works Well December 27, 2008 Very fast shipping on the printer cartridges, and they work very well. The black cartridge has good clarity, and was easy to install. Thank you, Amazon.
Low Quality But Useful If you Can Not Afford Better August 30, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Have owned several. Current one is the 5400 series. Prints okay but is low quality. HP 2100 series or higher are much better but more expensive. I own both. I use the Lexmark for mostly scanning to PDF. The Lexmark Cartridges are way over priced for what they do: Regular one like the 28 gives about 175 printed pages ($18) while the expanded one like the 35 gives you 500 printed pages ($28). That is a very low quantity for the money, plus they are low quality pages when printed not crisp. I will not buy another one. I will buy HP printer and get me a solo scanner that also copies. But for a low budget and unprofessional home requirements these Lexmark printers and cartridges are just okay. You can do better if you can afford an HP. The long term lifecycle cost of owning an HP would probably be lower and more satisfying. Plus the Lexmark Black 28 cartridges are hard to find except online, and online they are not cheap and you must pay shipping too. Not a great deal long term as you must buy new cartridges all the time too frequently. And the printers cannot stand the test of time and use and must be replaced sooner than others. I am tired of going to Staples, Walmart etc and being told that the Black 28 is sold out since there is such a high demand since the cartridges give out so early. NOT GOOD. Avoid Lexmark unless that is all you can afford or do not have a requirement for better printing. But be prepared to be nickled and dimed to death over repeat expenses.
I am not a fan... August 3, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
First off, I was not a fan of my low-end Lexmark printer, but that can be the subject of another review.
These cartridges would run out of ink so fast. I am a college student, and I couldn't print any of my lecture notes on the Lexmark printer because it messed up the formating, so I used my printer strictly for printing essays/papers. That said, one of these cartridges only lasted me a MONTH which is ridiculous, because I did not use it much at all.
Lexmark seems to be the type that makes cheap printers, and then relatively expensive cartridges that do not last long at all. You would be better off buying a better printer from a different brand - one that makes decent cartridges that may be more expensive than the Lexmark cartridges, but that last so much longer.
I recommend HP - I have always been satisfied with their printers and cartridges.
It does what it's supposed to do. February 22, 2008 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
