 The pinnacle of RTS gaming in a decade May 30, 2010

Quite possibly the first RTS able to not only reinvent the wheel, but also reinvent the wheel while still keeping the game very fun. Supreme Commander, or better known as Supcom, is the king of the hill while Blizzard remained dormant during the beginning of this century. While other RTS games stuck to their roots, Supcom sowed new trees of ideas. From full map zoom to the unique game economy, Supcom will surely make you rethink how RTS games are played.
Perhaps its most innovative feature is the aspect of true game balance and progression. Whereas other RTS games will let you win (or be annihilated) with the lowest rank units in the game by using rush tactics, Supcom takes the initiative by ensuring that with shield technology, automated defense systems, and a self-sustaining economy, you will actually need to put the time and effort to upgrade your base to ensure that you will not only be able to survive, but also able to hit the enemy hard.
Single player is a downside with it not being all that in-depth or interesting, but the missions provide true challenges and great learning experiences. A great musical score accompanies the breath-taking visuals that make Supcom the best RTS game seen since Starcraft was released. A most definite buy for the RTS fan and player.

Supreme Commander and it's expansion Forged Alliance are both superb games. They feature smooth game play, a well laid out interface (which is important in an RTS), and three years later they still look great graphically. There are three factions in Supreme Commander, and four in Forged Alliance. Each faction seems well balanced with the others, and each has enough of a twist on their unique flavor to prevent them from feeling like clones of each other.
Furthermore, there is a unique campaign for each of the three main races in Supreme Commander while the expansion, Forged Alliance, features a single campaign that changes in various ways depending on which of the three main factions you choose to play. The fourth faction in Forged Alliance is only playable in multiplayer and skirmish battles. Both games feature large scale battles involving hundreds, and potentially thousands, of units - including colossal experimental units that can at times literally rampage through several hundred lesser units - which is always a blast to watch.
Supreme Commander and Forged Alliance both feature impressive replay value. Firstly, you can play through each faction's campaign. While each campaign is only six missions, these missions can take several hours to complete at times - with the campaign missions in Forged Alliance feeling particularly epic in scope. Furthermore, there is a skirmish mode included in both games, which allows you to have sandbox game play against the AI. Lastly, Supreme Commander and Forged Alliance feature excellent multiplayer support, and the games include an interface for multiplayer gaming called GPGNet which allows for easy matchmaking and chat.
In short, if you're looking for a good sci-fi themed RTS that focuses more on strategic than tactical game play, look no further - Supreme Commander and it's expansion Forged Alliance will deliver. With both great games packed into a single Gold Edition package for a low price, I highly recommend trying out Supreme Commander: Gold Edition.
One of the Best RTS Games Ever April 5, 2010

Supreme Commander is one of the best RTS games I've ever played. It has a unique and interesting economy, fun base-building, awesome viewing ability (with extreme zoom-in/out) and of course you can build hundreds and thousands of units! This game far outshines even newer RTS games that have been coming out.

I am completely unsatified. I purchased the game and all of the manuals in it are in spanish. Not a single english. Neither of the manuals came with a cd- key so i cant even download the game. Plus when I went to amazon to tell them, "Hey my product I bought from you is defective" They refused to do anything about it. So I hate this game and Amazon will be lucky if I purchase through them again.

Pros: The Gold Edition is a great value for anyone who wants to pick up Supreme Commander and Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. These games revolutionized the RTS genre with their enormous scope and improvements, letting you, the player, focus on strategy rather than tactics alone. If you enjoy RTS games, you owe it to yourself to try these out.
Cons: These games, especially Forged Alliance, have very high system requirements to enjoy the game, due to the hundreds of individually-calculated units on screen at the same time. While it runs on older hardware, you'll need a newer dual-core or better processor to enjoy it.
Other: Upgrading to the latest patched version for online play was very easy with this version -- there was one cumulative update.
