Well, this game is bad. Very bad. It'd have been fine, I mean, there are bad games around the world, and it's not like I expected something else. However, considering the fact that I CAN'T PLAY 90% OF THE TIME even though the internet works just fine I figured I should warn the rest of you.
NEVER, EVER, EVEN IF GIVEN AWAY FOR FREE, GET A UBISOFT GAME.
(and if you get one, SH5 is the crappiest of them, get something else).

This company sent me a USED game that could not be registered. What a waste of my time.
Amazon will make them them eat this. You can't scam at Amazon!
Cheats or fools, I don't know.

I loved Silent Hunter 4 and was excited to hear about Silent Hunter 5. Until I read about Uplay. With Uplay you play with an internet connection always on or Udontplay. Simple as that.
I won't purchase this. Or any software from Ubisoft. It looks like the next Ghost Recon is off my list as well.
Ubisoft needs to be torpedoed.

It is no news to the avid game player, and I have all popular systems, that PC software is not readily available in many locatons anymore. I was excited about Silent Hunter V's release. When I asked a popular game chain to reserve a copy, they said they didn't show it in their database. So I waited a week for it to be released officially. But, alas, it wasn't stocked in my alternative source, the world famous big box chain. So now I just simplify my life and order directly from Amazon - like I do for most other things. Which I did and got my copy of Silent Hunter V. They, or their third pary suppliers, are the ONLY option for software I now use.

The game is filled with errors, bugs, mistakes, and horrid programing. Ships and submarines flip in circles above the ground in ports burning, ships crash into walls in the ports, ships sail around on land. There are hundreds of bugs and things that Ubisoft did not fix before releasing this product to the public.
Go to [...] to become part of the modding community. There are programers (volunteers that work privately) that love the submarine simulation world. Those modders reprogram Ubisoft games so that they work.
If you buy the game you will be greatly disappointed.
If you buy the game and then go to [...] to fix the major issues... and wait for an entire year while all the bugs are worked out.. then you will be very happy with an amazing game.
My advice: Wait 1 full year. Pay $10 for the game at that time and then go to [...] and download all the fixes and then play the game. Until then you are wasting your money.
They did the same thing with Silent Hunter 3 and Silent Hunter 4.
Now with Silent Hunter 5 you also have to have an internet connection each and every time you play the game. If you lose the connection the game shuts down. So you if you have dial up or a connection that isn't perfect 24/7; get used to not being able to play the game when you want.
